Motivational Interviewing
December 18, 2017 @ 9:00 am - December 19, 2017 @ 5:00 pm
This two day training is designed for both new comers and those needing the latest updates in the application of Motivational Interviewing. The training is designed to incorporate learner experiences into examples for application exercises. More specifically, find out how MI principles and concepts look in real life with real clients. This course is focused on working with behavioral change, cultivating and examining motivation for change and how to manage barriers that get in the way. The approach is respectful, collaborative and considered a best practice.
If you have ever asked yourself:
“Why would someone say they want to change or improve and than their actions say otherwise?”
“What if it feels like I’m trying harder then they are?”
“How can I help them with so many things to address?”
“What is stopping them from moving forward?”
….then this training can help provide you with some answers and strategies to work through both provider concerns and client complex issues.
The training will be led by Denise Hall, MS, NCC, CRC, a licensed professional counselor. Ms. Hall serves as the clinical coordinator for the Department of Rehabilitation Counseling at Virginia Commonwealth University and has been a member of the Motivational Interviewing Network of Trainers since 2003. She has extensive experience working with the continuum of care in behavioral health and substance misuse services.
The training will begin at 9am. Lunch will be served.
